Subject Matter Expert – Financial & Operations Chart Analysis

Overview

micro1 is seeking 50 Subject Matter Expert contributors for a remote contractor project focused on high-level chart interpretation and reasoning. The work supports a customer project that helps train next-generation AI systems. No prior AI experience is required; strong domain knowledge is the key requirement.

What You’ll Do

• Interpret complex financial and operational charts, including candlestick charts, yield curves, drawdown charts, market-volume charts, control charts, Pareto charts, process flows, and capacity/throughput charts.
• Write clear, objective reasoning questions based on detailed visualizations that require multi-step quantitative analysis.
• Provide precise answers with explicit analytical steps, calculations, and written explanations in professional English.
• Use accurate financial, economic, and operational terminology, with careful attention to units, scales, timeframes, categories, and notation.
• Create robust tasks that test graphical reasoning, comparisons, trend analysis, calculations, and interpolation while avoiding subjective or ambiguous language.
• Collaborate remotely with project teams, incorporating feedback and contributing consistent, reliable work.
• Produce objectively verifiable tasks that support the development, training, and evaluation of advanced AI models.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
• At least two years of professional, academic, or research experience interpreting financial market data, risk metrics, or operational performance charts.
• Advanced ability to interpret chart elements such as axes, units, legends, scales, and annotations across multiple chart types.
• Ability to clearly explain analytical processes and quantitative reasoning in written and spoken English.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and ideally a second language relevant to the financial or operational domain.
• Experience with technical documentation, financial reporting, process or quality assessment, or structured analytical task creation.
• Background creating data-annotation tasks, benchmark questions, technical reports, or similar deliverables for finance, operations, or AI-driven projects.
