About this opportunity
Overview
G2i is looking for a senior-level software engineer to evaluate the quality of interactions with modern AI coding agents such as OpenAI Codex, Claude Code, and Cursor. This is a remote contract opportunity that is open worldwide, though eligibility may vary by location because some regions may not be supported by the client. The engagement is estimated at 10-20 hours per week, with compensation of $100-$200/hour depending on experience and location.
This is not a traditional coding role. The work is centered on judging whether an AI assistant thinks and communicates like a strong engineer, with an emphasis on engineering taste, judgment, and the quality of reasoning.
What You'll Do
- Review AI-generated coding interactions end to end.
- Assess whether responses are useful, correct at a high level, and aligned with strong engineering judgment.
- Evaluate the quality of explanations and reasoning, not just the code itself.
- Differentiate between response quality levels and explain what makes one interaction better than another.
- Provide direct, opinionated written feedback on what worked, what failed, and what felt misleading or off.
- Help define what great AI-assisted coding interactions should look like.
Who They're Looking For
- Senior, Staff, or Principal-level engineer, or equivalent experience.
- Strong background in TypeScript/JavaScript or Python.
- Hands-on experience with at least one of OpenAI Codex, Claude Code, or Cursor.
- Deep familiarity with modern AI-assisted development workflows.
- Ability to evaluate code without executing it or reviewing every line.
- Strong written and spoken English, at B2 level or above.
- Comfort with direct, opinionated feedback and a high bar for engineering quality.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience with prompt design or evaluation workflows.
- Experience mentoring senior engineers or defining engineering standards.
