Mechanical Engineering Specialist — Remote Contract Engagement
About this opportunity
Overview
Fleet AI is looking for mechanical engineering specialists to help build realistic work environments for AI agents. The role focuses on creating and reviewing engineering problems and reference solutions that test whether AI systems can reason correctly, use engineering tools, and produce physically valid results.
This is a remote contract engagement with a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week. Work begins after onboarding, and project scope, deliverables, fees, and end date are agreed before each engagement starts.
What You'll Do
- Create mechanical engineering problems with the inputs, constraints, and source files needed to solve them.
- Develop reference solutions that may include CAD models, engineering drawings, calculations, or simulation outputs.
- Write short technical explanations covering assumptions, boundary conditions, tradeoffs, and limitations.
- Define criteria for judging whether a solution is physically valid, safe, and feasible.
- Review AI-generated work and identify errors, including why those errors matter.
Requirements
- Professional mechanical engineering experience, including work taken through analysis, validation, or production.
- Hands-on experience with CAD or simulation tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion, FEA, or CFD software.
- Strong judgment around physical constraints, failure modes, and the limits of a model's reliability.
- Ability to communicate technical reasoning clearly in writing.
