Senior Book Editor

Overview

micro1 is seeking 20 Senior Book Editors to contribute editorial expertise to a customer project focused on raising editorial standards across a range of manuscripts. The work supports training next-generation AI systems with high-quality, real-world editorial input. This is a remote contractor opportunity for experienced book editors, with preference given to contributors based in the United States, though highly qualified professionals from other locations may be considered.

What You'll Do

• Review and improve book manuscripts with attention to clarity, narrative structure, voice, and market fit.
• Provide detailed editorial feedback and carry out advanced line editing, copyediting, and content restructuring when needed.
• Identify inconsistencies, gaps, or areas for improvement in plot, character development, and thematic continuity.
• Help develop editorial guidelines and best practices that support AI model development.
• Draft, revise, and refine editorial commentary so it is constructive, actionable, and aligned with high industry standards.
• Work with project stakeholders through written and verbal discussions to communicate edits and recommendations effectively.
• Support quality control by reviewing and refining AI-generated editorial work for accuracy and style.

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive experience editing published books for recognized publishing houses or prominent authors.
• Experience leading editorial work on books with major recognition, such as bestselling or award-winning titles, is a strong plus.
• Strong command of English grammar and literary style.
• Ability to deliver nuanced, incisive editorial feedback across genres and formats.
• Comfort working in a remote, tech-enabled environment and adapting to evolving project needs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration.
