About this opportunity
Overview
Mercor is looking for senior electrical engineering professionals to create evaluation tasks for AI systems used in Fortune 500 enterprise electrical systems and product design settings. The work focuses on high-complexity engineering scenarios, reference outputs, and rubrics that reflect how senior engineering leaders reason in real enterprise environments.
This role covers both an International track (IEC) and a US track (NEC / NFPA 70, NESC, IEEE). Candidates with experience in either or both tracks are encouraged to apply. Work is fully remote and completed on an independent contractor basis.
What You'll Do
- Build enterprise electrical engineering scenarios involving complex circuit and systems design cycles, multi-stakeholder design reviews, and manufacturing or regulatory certification processes.
- Create tasks across F500 power systems and grid infrastructure, semiconductor and PCB design, embedded systems and firmware, signal processing, and control systems engineering.
- Develop scenarios using tools and workflows such as Altium Designer, Cadence, MATLAB/Simulink, SPICE simulation platforms, and enterprise PLM/EDA systems.
- Apply electrical engineering methods including circuit analysis and simulation, EMC/EMI compliance, control theory, and reliability/failure mode analysis.
- Produce reference design specifications, engineering analyses, and executive-level technical narratives aligned to the relevant standards track.
- Write rubrics that distinguish authentic enterprise electrical engineering judgment from generic textbook or coursework-level recall.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as an electrical engineer or engineering lead at a Fortune 500 or major technology, industrial, or energy company.
- Direct ownership of large-scale circuit designs, power systems, or engineering certification programs.
- Strong fluency in enterprise electrical engineering tools and methodologies.
- Working knowledge of safety standards, regulatory certification, and cross-functional design governance, including NEC / NFPA 70, IEEE, UL, FCC, and IEC.
- A professional engineering credential such as a US PE or an international equivalent (for example CEng or EUR ING) is a plus.
- Prior rubric writing, engineering-training curriculum work, or design documentation authorship is a plus.
- Applicants must be able to work as independent contractors and should note that H1-B and STEM OPT candidates cannot be supported at this time.
Contract and Payment
- Independent contractor engagement.
- Fully remote and completed on your own schedule.
- Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance.
- Payments are made weekly on Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
