About this opportunity

Overview

We are seeking detail-oriented QA reviewers to check and approve image edits used to train next-generation AI image editing models. Each task includes an original image, a written editing instruction, an edit category, and the edited image produced by an annotator. You will verify that the edit follows the instructions exactly, looks photorealistic, and leaves everything else untouched.

This is a remote, project-based contractor assignment. Training and guidelines will be provided.

What You'll Do

  • Review edited images against the original image, the prompt, and the edit category.
  • Confirm the edit does exactly what was asked, nothing more and nothing less.
  • Check realism and technical quality, including lighting, shadows, reflections, perspective, edges, color consistency, halos, seams, warping, and artifacts.
  • Confirm that areas not mentioned in the instruction remain unchanged, including identity, pose, background, and resolution.
  • Score each task against the project quality rubric and mark it as approved, minor fix, or rework.
  • Write constructive, specific feedback and detailed annotations.
  • Flag unclear, impossible, or inconsistent prompts and escalate recurring issues.
  • Spot error patterns and contribute to guideline updates and calibration sessions.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and write English with a high degree of comprehension.
  • Good research and analytical skills to judge edits objectively against written guidelines.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and detailed annotations.
  • Creative and lateral thinking to judge ambiguous prompts and suggest workable fixes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote setting.
  • Desktop or laptop with a color-accurate display and a good internet connection.
  • 1+ years of direct practice in photo retouching, compositing, art direction, creative QA, or a similar role.
  • Strong eye for photorealism and the ability to spot subtle editing defects at full resolution.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, enough to verify edits and make small corrections.

Schedule

  • Full-time or part-time commitment available: 40 hours or 20 hours per week.
  • Requires 4 hours of PST overlap.
  • Tentative start date: 16 Nov 2026.
  • Engagement length: 12 weeks.

Project Details

  • Contractor assignment (no medical or paid leave).
  • Rate: $1.50 per task.
  • Average handling time: 15 to 20 minutes per task.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience reviewing or managing a team of retouchers or designers.
  • Agency or in-house studio experience in fashion, beauty, FMCG, e-commerce, or retail.
  • Prior data annotation, content moderation, or QA work against a scoring rubric.
  • Familiarity with AI image tools such as Photoshop Generative Fill, Firefly, Midjourney, or Stable Diffusion.
