Role Overview
Support the development of multilingual AI voice capabilities by curating and annotating audio data, evaluating speech, and translating/localizing English content into Yoruba. The role focuses on improving speech recognition, voice interactions, and multilingual audio quality.
Responsibilities
Label, annotate, record, and provide input on multilingual audio and speech data.
Translate and localize UI copy, prompts, responses, and other content from English to Yoruba.
Evaluate audio quality, pronunciation, accents, intonation, rhythm, and other linguistic details.
Support improvements to AI speech handling, including accents, modulation, noise, and multilingual processing.
Collaborate with technical teams to improve audio annotation tools and workflows.
Requirements
Native Yoruba proficiency, including familiarity with diverse accents or dialects.
English proficiency of B2 or higher with clear pronunciation suitable for recording.
Strong auditory perception and ability to identify speech and audio nuances.
Experience transcribing audio accurately across accents and varying quality.
Ability to translate and localize accurately between English and Yoruba.
Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
Ability to make consistent judgments on ambiguous or varied audio content.
Preferred
Background in linguistics, speech sciences, cognitive science, or related fields.
Experience with speech/audio datasets, annotation, AI training data, or voice models.
Advanced transcription and annotation experience, including disfluencies and prosodic features.
Translation/localization experience, especially for software or conversational AI.
Professional voice, recording, podcasting, or audio-production experience.
Portfolio of voice samples, annotated transcripts, or related audio work.
Location & Work Requirements
Roles may be full-time, part-time, or contractor, depending on needs and candidate fit.
Contractor hours are flexible; projects may typically require at least 10 hours/week, depending on scope.
Remote work is available worldwide, subject to legal eligibility, time-zone compatibility, and role requirements.
US candidates: Wyoming and Illinois are currently excluded.
Visa sponsorship is not provided.
Personal-device users must have a Chromebook, macOS 11.0+, or Windows 10+ computer.
Compensation
US-based: $35–$45/hour, depending on experience, skills, education, location, and qualifications.
International: Compensation details provided during recruitment.
