About this opportunity
Overview
Mercor is seeking an FP&A Expert for a fully remote independent contractor role focused on reviewing and QAing AI-agent work in Financial Forecaster. The work centers on judging whether an agent’s answer matches the underlying model and documents, identifying failure modes, improving task realism and difficulty, and refining grading guidance so correct answers pass and incorrect answers fail.
What You'll Do
- Review completed agent runs in Financial Forecaster and assess whether answers are correct against the model and source documents.
- Check that the agent used the right scenario, account, coordinate, accounting basis, conclusion, and deliverable.
- Identify where tasks are too easy, misleading, or solvable without actually using Financial Forecaster.
- Improve task prompts and seeded worlds so they better reflect realistic FP&A and lender-reporting work.
- Update grading guidance to catch incorrect answers, including wrong scenario vintage, wrong accounting basis, excluded add-backs, unsupported figures, or conclusions lifted from documents instead of the model.
- Flag plausible-looking answers that are wrong because they use the wrong grain, wrong basis, or inconsistent reasoning.
Requirements
- Frequent hands-on use of Financial Forecaster for real forecasting, covenant, or reporting work in a current or recent role, at least weekly.
- 5+ years of professional experience in FP&A, financial reporting, technical accounting, or lender reporting.
- Ability to read a Financial Forecaster model quickly and distinguish inputs from calculations, spot overrides, identify the governing scenario and its vintage, and verify whether a figure ties at the stated grain.
- Comfort with Financial Forecaster’s scenario and import mechanics, including scale and basis traps that can produce confidently wrong answers.
- Strong judgment on what a complete and correct answer looks like, with the confidence to mark plausible answers wrong when needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Credit agreement compliance and borrowing base reporting experience.
- Going concern or impairment analysis experience.
- Segment reporting experience.
- SEC reporting or disclosure committee experience.
- Hands-on experience across multiple models and entities.
- CPA, CFA, or MBA is welcome but not required.
