Job Description
Micro1 is hiring experienced UI / Visual Designers for a writing-intensive design project that contributes to the training of next-generation AI systems.
You’ll use your professional design expertise to evaluate interfaces, develop design-system principles, review component libraries, create Figma mockups, and clearly explain the reasoning behind design decisions.
No previous AI experience is required.
What You’ll Do
- Critically evaluate user interfaces and identify strengths and weaknesses in their visual and interaction design.
- Write clear, structured rationales explaining design decisions and recommendations.
- Develop and document principles, patterns, and guidelines for effective design systems.
- Review and refine component libraries for consistency, clarity, and accessibility.
- Create polished mockups in Figma using strong typography, color, spacing, and layout principles.
- Apply responsive design practices across different screen sizes.
- Produce detailed design documentation explaining decisions to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Evaluate designs for usability and accessibility.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in UI, visual, or product design.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating professional digital design work.
- Expertise in typography, color theory, visual hierarchy, layout, and responsive design.
- Strong proficiency with Figma.
- Experience working with design systems and component libraries.
- Ability to document and clearly explain design decisions.
- Strong written English communication skills.
- Understanding of accessibility standards and their application to interface design.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience creating or documenting design systems and component guidelines.
- Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards.
- Experience working with highly regarded organizations or a strong academic background is considered an advantage.
- Advanced English writing skills.
