About this opportunity

Overview

Mercor is partnering with a large enterprise technology organization to place a Staff Software Engineer on the team behind its Android and iOS apps. This is a mobile-first role with full-stack responsibilities, including backend services, APIs, and web work when needed. The team also uses AI coding tools as part of normal day-to-day development. This is a full-time role requiring 40 hours per week, and the position is a W-2 employment arrangement with Cincinnatus LLC, which serves as the employer of record while placing the worker within a leading enterprise client’s engineering organization.

What You'll Do

  • Build and ship features for native mobile applications, with a primary focus on Android development in Kotlin.
  • Contribute across the broader stack, including backend services, APIs, and web applications when needed.
  • Use AI-assisted developer tools to ramp up on unfamiliar code and deliver quality work.
  • Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, and production support.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, UX, and partner engineering teams.
  • Help support the growth and development of other engineers on the team.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Hands-on native mobile experience, ideally Android with Kotlin and Jetpack.
  • iOS/Swift experience is welcome, and Flutter or React Native experience may also count if paired with some native work.
  • Production experience beyond mobile, such as backend services, APIs, or web applications.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals, including design, testing, and debugging.
  • Comfort using AI coding tools such as Copilot, Cursor, or Claude.
  • Ability to work reliably for at least 40 hours per week during weekdays.
  • Clear communication and a collaborative, curious mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to LLM-powered features such as RAG, embeddings, or agents.
  • Experience with accessibility standards.
  • Experience building applications involving accounts, payments, or orders.
