Overview
Mercor is partnering with a large enterprise technology organization to place a Staff Software Engineer on the team behind its Android and iOS apps. This is a mobile-first, full-time role with a 40-hour weekly commitment. The work includes native mobile development as well as support across backend services, APIs, and web applications. AI coding tools are part of the normal workflow.
This opportunity is a W-2 employment position with Cincinnatus LLC, which serves as the employer of record while placing the engineer within a leading enterprise client’s engineering organization as part of its extended workforce.
What You'll Do
- Build and ship features for native mobile applications, with a primary focus on Android using Kotlin.
- Contribute beyond mobile when needed, including backend services, APIs, and web applications.
- Use AI-powered developer tools to understand unfamiliar codebases and ship work efficiently and with quality.
- Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, and production support.
- Collaborate closely with Product, UX, and partner engineering teams.
- Help other engineers grow through technical collaboration and support.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Hands-on native mobile experience, ideally Android with Kotlin and Jetpack.
- iOS/Swift experience is welcome, and Flutter or React Native experience can also be relevant if paired with native work.
- Production experience outside of mobile, such as backend services, APIs, or web apps.
- Strong engineering fundamentals across design, testing, and debugging.
- Comfort using AI coding tools such as Copilot, Cursor, or Claude.
- Availability to work reliably at least 40 hours per week during weekdays.
- Clear communication and a collaborative, curious mindset.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to LLM-powered features such as RAG, embeddings, or agents.
- Experience with accessibility standards.
- Experience building apps with accounts, payments, or orders.
