Job Description
Mercor is hiring Castilian Spanish Voice Actors to work with a leading AI lab on improving how advanced AI models understand and generate audio.
Candidates must be native speakers of Castilian (European) Spanish who were born and raised in Spain. This opportunity is specifically for the Spanish variety spoken in Spain and is separate from Mercor's Mexican Spanish project.
Professional voice-acting experience is strongly preferred but not required. Applicants with relevant speaking or audio experience from music, television, podcasts, Twitch streaming, comedy, YouTube, radio, or similar fields are also encouraged to apply.
What You’ll Do
- Record Castilian Spanish audio for an AI training project.
- Read provided transcripts with clear pronunciation and consistent pacing.
- Use a neutral-to-upbeat, customer-service-style speaking voice.
- Pay close attention to punctuation, commas, and dashes when recording.
- Ensure recordings accurately reflect provided transcripts or natural pacing where edits are permitted.
- Edit and prepare recordings according to the project's technical audio requirements.
- Participate in a project kickoff call.
Requirements
- Native Castilian (European) Spanish speaker.
- Must have been born and raised in Spain.
- Proficient English communication skills.
- Ability to deliver clear, naturally paced speech with consistent enunciation.
- Strong attention to detail when following scripts and recording requirements.
- Ability to commit 2–10 hours per week.
- Professional voice-acting experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Professional Recording Setup Required
Candidates must have access to a professional home recording setup that includes:
- Professional-grade microphone.
- Appropriate soundproofing.
- Audio interface.
- Pop filter.
- Audio editing software for post-production.
Submitted recordings must meet the project's specified technical standards, including WAV format, 44.1 kHz, and mono audio.
Start Timeline
This project uses rolling starts. Onboarding begins after your contract has been accepted and identity verification has cleared.
You must also be available for a kickoff call.
Contract & Payment Details
- Independent contractor engagement.
- $250 per finished hour of submitted audio.
- Fully remote with a flexible schedule.
- Payments are made weekly through Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
- Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on project needs and performance.
- H1-B and STEM OPT candidates are not currently supported.
