Job Description

micro1 is hiring 37 Software Engineers with open-source development experience for a remote project supporting next-generation AI systems.

You’ll work within existing open-source codebases, implementing features, fixing complex bugs, refactoring and optimizing code, and producing high-quality technical documentation.

No prior AI experience is required. Strong software engineering and open-source development expertise are the primary focus.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and refine features within existing open-source codebases.
• Work with languages including Python, Java, Rust, C++, and TypeScript.
• Investigate and resolve complex software bugs.
• Refactor legacy code to improve readability, maintainability, performance, and scalability.
• Validate code for accuracy, consistency, and adherence to coding best practices.
• Apply algorithms and advanced problem-solving techniques to complex programming tasks.
• Collaborate remotely with other contributors and review proposed changes.
• Maintain relevant project documentation.
• Produce clear technical write-ups explaining solution design and implementation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expert-level proficiency in at least two of the following: Python, C++, Java, Rust, TypeScript, Go, or C#.
• Extensive experience contributing to open-source software.
• Experience with feature implementation, bug fixing, and codebase refactoring.
• Strong competitive programming or complex coding problem-solving experience.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to evaluate multiple approaches to complex technical problems.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail when reviewing and validating code.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
