Overview
Mercor is partnering with a large enterprise technology organization to place a Senior Software Engineer on a platform team that supports core customer-facing experiences across web and mobile. This is a full-time role requiring 40 hours per week, and the position is for United States-based candidates. The work involves building and improving production backend services at scale, including collaboration with Engineering, UX, Product, Business, and Analytics, as well as integrating advanced capabilities such as generative AI into production services.
This is a W-2 employment position with Cincinnatus LLC. Cincinnatus LLC serves as the employer of record, while the selected candidate may be placed within a leading enterprise client’s engineering organization as part of its extended workforce.
What You'll Do
- Lead delivery of scoped features within collaborative engineering teams, keeping work aligned with platform and system goals.
- Design, build, test, and maintain efficient backend services in Node.js, TypeScript, and Rust across the software lifecycle and CI/CD.
- Develop and optimize server-to-server integrations and API layers, including REST and GraphQL, for high-traffic customer-facing applications.
- Integrate AI/ML capabilities into product services and use generative AI tools to improve engineering productivity.
- Contribute to solution design, participate in code reviews, and apply best practices for scalable, secure, maintainable systems.
- Monitor application performance, help resolve defects, and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Mentor peers and share knowledge to support engineering excellence across the team.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, or a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field plus 3+ years of experience, building production systems at a recognized high-scale organization.
- Hands-on backend production coding experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience with Rust in production services, performance-critical modules, or substantial systems work.
- Strong web fundamentals, including HTTP semantics, cookies, headers, caching, sessions, and server-to-server communication patterns such as service authentication, timeouts, and retries.
- Experience building or operating high-traffic consumer-facing web platforms.
- Ability to reliably work at least 40 hours per week during weekdays.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to broad audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GraphQL on Node.js, including schema design, resolvers, and federation.
- Familiarity with web accessibility standards.
- Clear evidence of progression to senior-level ownership.
