Overview
Project Melora is a remote, project-based voice recording opportunity with CrowdGen by Appen for English speakers in the United States. The work involves recording short, one-sided phone calls on a mobile device to help improve natural-sounding voice AI. Each session takes only a few minutes and must follow project guidelines carefully.
This role is structured as an independent contractor opportunity through the CrowdGen community. Selected applicants will be asked to create or access a CrowdGen account using the email address used in their application, then complete the setup steps before proceeding with the project.
What You'll Do
- Record solo phone-call style audio in English on a secure platform.
- Improvise natural, unscripted calls using fake names and fake account or order numbers only.
- Follow a 6-step call flow: greeting, ID verification, describing the issue, pausing for the agent response, resolution, and closing.
- Submit basic metadata after each completed call.
- Complete multiple sessions across several days while spacing them out according to project rules.
Requirements
- Native English speaker, age 18 or older.
- Ability to read and follow short instructions in English.
- Own an iPhone 17, 17 Air, 17 Pro, or 17 Pro Max.
- Have a quiet indoor space for recording, free from TV, traffic, fans, and other voices.
- Be able to complete 4 to 10 calls, with each call lasting about 1 to 2 minutes and no more than 5 minutes.
- Be able to keep recordings to no more than 3 per day, spaced at least 3 hours apart, and spread across several days at different times of day.
- Comfortable with unscripted improvisation and following recorded consent, NDA, and project guidelines.
- Willing to be recorded and submit consent as required for the project.
Compensation
The project pays $2.50 per QA-approved session. A minimum of 4 approved sessions is required to be paid, which equals $10.00, and up to 10 sessions can be completed for a maximum of $25.00. Sessions that do not pass QA are not paid.
