About this opportunity
Overview
micro1 is seeking law students and recent law graduates with law journal or law review experience to support a legal citation project. This contract role is remote and pays $50–80/hour. The work centers on Bluebook-based citation review, identifying errors, and building sample cite-checking tasks. No prior AI experience is required.
Scope of Work
- Review Bluebook and pincite grading rubrics and flag rules that are unclear, incomplete, or inconsistently applied.
- Identify edge cases that are not covered by the current rubrics and recommend how they should be handled.
- Create sample cite-checking tasks with source material, citations containing realistic errors, the correct answer, and an explanation of the rule involved.
- Build tasks across different citation types and difficulty levels, from basic formatting issues to more subtle pincite and source-support problems.
- Apply Bluebook rules consistently across all submissions.
- Escalate ambiguous cases to project coordinators rather than resolving them on your own.
- Deliver assigned work on schedule and at the required quality level.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current law student, especially 2L or 3L, or a recent JD graduate.
- Law review or law journal experience, ideally with cite-checking or source-collection responsibilities.
- Strong working knowledge of The Bluebook, including pincites, short forms, signals, and parentheticals.
- Ability to explain why a citation is incorrect, not just what the correction is.
- Careful, consistent work habits during long sessions of detailed review.
- Comfort working independently and meeting deadlines without close supervision.
- Journal editor, articles editor, or executive editor experience is a plus.
Selection Process
- Apply and complete the screening questions.
- Complete the AI interview to demonstrate your skills to the client.
- Profile review by the hiring team.
- Onboarding with Talent Ops.
