About this opportunity
Overview
micro1 is seeking experienced Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) professionals to support a customer project focused on AI training and evaluation. The work centers on SysML v1 experience with exposure to SysML v2, or direct hands-on SysML v2 modeling experience, to help develop reference models, evaluate AI-generated outputs, and define standards for technical accuracy and model quality.
This is a remote contractor engagement with flexible, task-based work. The initial project is expected to run for approximately 4 weeks to 3 months, with variable hours depending on project needs. Candidates will also complete an AI interview as part of the application process.
What You'll Do
- Interpret engineering requirements and translate them into accurate SysML v2 models with strong fidelity and traceability.
- Develop reference solutions and exemplar system architectures to benchmark AI evaluation tasks.
- Use systems modeling tools to create, review, and validate SysML v2 models.
- Create, refine, and document evaluation rubrics for assessing AI-generated SysML v2 outputs.
- Review models and provide structured feedback to ensure technical accuracy and alignment with modeling best practices.
- Analyze requirements, Concepts of Operations (ConOps), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and architectural specifications to guide modeling work.
- Collaborate asynchronously through written and verbal communication to clarify deliverables and resolve technical questions.
Requirements
- Professional experience in systems engineering, with hands-on SysML v1 expertise and some exposure to SysML v2, or demonstrated SysML v2 modeling experience.
- Ability to interpret requirements and convert them into technically accurate system models.
- Understanding of MBSE principles, requirements traceability, and system architecture.
- Experience using systems modeling tools and applying MBSE methodologies in engineering projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of requirements engineering, system architecture, interface control, and model traceability.
- Experience with MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, or similar applications.
- Familiarity with SysML v2 modeling environments, including graphical or textual approaches.
- Experience working with ConOps, ICDs, and related systems engineering documentation.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills for remote or asynchronous work.
- Background in complex engineering domains such as aerospace, space, defense, automotive, maritime, or communications.
- Familiarity with model verification, technical review, evaluation rubric development, or model quality assessment.
- Exposure to AI, machine learning, or data-driven engineering projects.
Engagement Details
- Contractor engagement.
- Remote work.
- Project- or task-based structure with variable hours.
- Estimated commitment of about 15 hours per week.
- Initial pilot duration of approximately 4 weeks to 3 months.
