About this opportunity

Overview

micro1 is seeking law students and recent law school graduates with law journal experience to support a legal citation project. This contract role is remote and involves citation review, rubric evaluation, and the creation of sample cite-checking tasks. No prior AI experience is required; strong Bluebook knowledge and editorial judgment are the key qualifications.

The project includes 25 openings and pays $50–80 per hour.

What You'll Do

  • Review Bluebook and pincite grading rubrics and identify rules that are unclear, incomplete, or likely to be applied inconsistently.
  • Spot edge cases not covered by the rubrics and recommend how they should be handled.
  • Create sample cite-checking tasks with source material, citations containing realistic errors, the correct answer, and an explanation of the rule involved.
  • Build tasks across different citation types and difficulty levels, from basic formatting issues to more subtle pincite and source-support problems.
  • Apply Bluebook rules consistently across all submissions.
  • Escalate ambiguous cases to project coordinators rather than resolving them on your own.
  • Complete assigned work on time and at the required quality standard.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current law student, especially 2L or 3L, or a recent JD graduate.
  • Law review or law journal experience, ideally with cite-checking or source-collection responsibilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of The Bluebook, including pincites, short forms, signals, and parentheticals.
  • Ability to explain why a citation is incorrect, not just how to fix it.
  • Consistent, careful work across long stretches of detailed review.
  • Comfort working independently and meeting deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Experience as a journal editor, articles editor, or executive editor is a plus.

Selection Process

  1. Apply and complete the screening questions.
  2. Complete the AI interview to demonstrate your skills to the client.
  3. Your profile will be reviewed by the hiring team.
  4. Onboarding is handled by the Talent Ops team.
