Overview
micro1 is looking for Competitive Coders to help train next-generation AI systems by creating reinforcement learning environments for competitive programming. This is a remote contractor role requiring at least 15 hours per week. The work focuses on building unique programming problems, reference solutions, and robust test suites that help evaluate how models solve complex coding tasks.
What You'll Do
- Design checkers for competitive programming problems that may have multiple valid outputs.
- Evaluate participant submissions against complex problem statements, including those inspired by platforms such as Codeforces.
- Work with the customer team to refine problem requirements and resolve ambiguous cases.
- Write maintainable C++ code to validate diverse outputs and edge cases efficiently.
- Document checker logic and explain edge cases clearly in writing and verbally.
- Share feedback with problem setters and reviewers to improve test cases and checkers.
- Stay current on competitive programming standards and apply best practices in checker development.
Requirements
- Strong experience in competitive programming and problem analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in C++.
- Ability to reason through complex constraints and multiple solution paths.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for technical explanations.
- Careful attention to output consistency and code validation.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, collaborative setting.
- Commitment to producing well-documented, high-quality code under deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a problem setter, tester, or checker on major competitive programming platforms.
Compensation
Compensation is output-based and paid per task that meets project specifications. Minimum submission requirements apply, and the time needed per task may vary by experience and workflow.
Availability
The team typically fills roles within 48 hours and expects selected experts to begin their first tasks within 24–48 hours after onboarding.
