Overview
micro1 is seeking 300 experts for an Application Security Engineer (AppSec) contractor role focused on helping train next-generation AI systems. This is a remote position with a flexible schedule of about 15 hours per week, and applicants can choose their hours and days, including weekends if preferred.
What You'll Do
- Create realistic, interesting, and challenging coding tasks for AI systems to solve.
- Design tasks around feature implementation and bug fixing.
- Build deterministic verifiers that accept valid solutions and reject incorrect ones.
- Apply security and appsec knowledge to support high-quality task creation and review.
What They're Looking For
- Strong backend development experience in Java, Node.js, Go, Rust, TypeScript, Python, C++, or similar languages.
- Experience building scalable services and APIs.
- Comfort with debugging, performance optimization, and automated testing.
- Solid code review instincts.
- Security-focused experience such as secure coding, appsec, pentesting, vulnerability assessment, OWASP/CWE, or security reviews is a strong plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven backend development experience with high-quality, performant delivery.
- Background in cybersecurity, penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, or security code reviews.
- Experience identifying and fixing software bugs and system bottlenecks.
- Experience with codebase refactoring and implementing complex features in large-scale applications.
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and foundational computer science concepts.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
