Mechanical CAD Expert

Overview

Rex is looking for mechanical CAD experts to help train AI systems to understand engineering assemblies. This remote opportunity is available in all countries. The work focuses on analyzing multi-part assemblies and creating detailed technical questions and answers about how the parts function, why the design is structured the way it is, and the dimensions involved.

What You’ll Do

• Review native CAD files for multi-part mechanical assemblies and determine how the components fit together and relate to one another.
• Write detailed technical questions for each assembly, covering function, design rationale, and dimensions.
• Evaluate AI-generated answers about assemblies and explain where they are incorrect.
• Review and improve geometric representations of assemblies.
• Document your reasoning clearly so it can be used for training data.
• Participate in calibration and review sessions and apply feedback to keep quality consistent.

Requirements

• Background in mechanical engineering, aerospace, or industrial design with strong applied CAD knowledge.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret complex assemblies.
• Experience with FreeCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or Inventor.
• Fluent written English.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain reliability in a remote setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• CSWP or CSWE certification.
• GD&T knowledge.
• Experience in aerospace or manufacturing design.

• All submitted content must be lawful and shared only where you have the right to do so.
• The contractor agreement will define ownership and licensing terms for delivered work.
• Engagement and payment are subject to verification and applicable sanctions, export-control, tax, and employment laws.
