Job Description
Mercor is working with a leading AI lab to hire experienced accounting professionals across multiple areas of practice to help train advanced AI systems on real-world accounting work.
Contributors will turn professional accounting workflows, judgments, and decision-making into high-quality AI training tasks. The work includes creating realistic accounting scenarios, evaluating AI-generated accounting outputs, and providing expert feedback.
Professionals from audit, tax, financial reporting, bookkeeping, controllership, forensic accounting, accounting systems, and related specialties are encouraged to apply.
What You’ll Do
- Design realistic accounting scenarios and tasks based on your professional experience.
- Create tasks involving areas such as financial statement preparation, reconciliations, journal entries, audit procedures, tax filings, month-end close, and internal controls.
- Review and compare AI-generated accounting outputs.
- Evaluate outputs for technical accuracy and compliance with applicable GAAP or IFRS standards.
- Assess whether AI-generated work demonstrates appropriate professional accounting judgment.
- Create structured examples showing how accounting professionals approach and reason through problems.
- Provide clear written feedback to improve AI performance on accounting tasks.
- Collaborate asynchronously with the research team.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience in accounting, audit, tax, bookkeeping, finance operations, or a related accounting field.
- Experience may come from public accounting, corporate/in-house teams, advisory work, or accounting firms.
- A professional credential such as CPA, CA, ACCA, CMA, EA, or an equivalent qualification is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Familiarity with common accounting tools and financial systems.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
Relevant Tools
Experience with accounting and financial tools such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, and Microsoft Excel is valuable.
Accounting Specialties
The opportunity is open across accounting specialties, allowing contributors to work primarily within their strongest areas of expertise.
Strong contributors may have opportunities to progress into reviewer, lead, or domain-expert roles.
