About this opportunity
Overview
We are looking for civil engineering experts to help train and evaluate AI models. The work involves creating realistic technical problems with reference answers, building grading rubrics, and comparing model responses for technical correctness. Your professional judgment will help set the standard used to evaluate AI systems.
What You'll Do
- Design realistic civil engineering problems and provide complete reference answers.
- Write grading rubrics that distinguish professional engineering judgment from simple textbook recall.
- Evaluate AI-generated calculations, designs, and specifications side by side and explain which response is stronger and why.
- Review problems and answers across structural analysis, geotechnical engineering, transportation, water resources, and construction.
- Check responses against relevant standards and codes where applicable.
- Identify reasoning errors in model outputs and propose improved answers.
- Follow project guidelines, participate in calibration and review sessions, and incorporate feedback to maintain consistent quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, plus either a Master’s/PhD or at least 4 years of professional experience.
- Substantial design or analysis experience in your discipline.
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
- Working knowledge of relevant design codes and standards.
- Excellent written English.
- Reliability, attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and the ability to meet deadlines in a remote setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional engineer (PE) or chartered status.
- Experience with structural or GIS software.
- Experience writing technical reports or training material.
