Software Engineer – Data Engineering & Data Science (SWE Bench)

Job Description

Turing is hiring experienced Software Engineers with Data Engineering or Data Science expertise for benchmark-driven AI evaluation projects.

You’ll work with real-world codebases, datasets, and data pipelines to develop and validate challenging SWE Bench-style tasks used to evaluate and improve advanced AI systems.

This role is best suited to Data Engineers, Data Scientists, or data-focused Software Engineers with strong Python skills and experience working with production-like data workflows.

What You’ll Do

• Work with structured and unstructured datasets for AI benchmarking and evaluation.
• Design, build, and validate data pipelines.
• Perform data processing, analysis, feature preparation, and validation.
• Write, run, and modify Python code to support experiments and data workflows.
• Evaluate data transformations and outputs for accuracy and reproducibility.
• Build clean, reusable, and well-documented data workflows.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain high code-quality standards.
• Navigate and modify complex, real-world codebases.
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers to develop challenging data engineering and data science tasks for AI systems.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer, Data Scientist, or data-focused Software Engineer.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Experience with data processing, analysis, and model-related workflows.
• Solid understanding of machine learning and data science fundamentals.
• Experience working with structured and unstructured datasets.
• Ability to understand and modify complex codebases.
• Ability to write readable, reusable, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Strong problem-solving skills, particularly with algorithmic or data-intensive problems.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Evaluation Process

Applicants will complete a 60-minute technical interview with a live coding challenge.
