Overview
Rex is looking for mechanical engineering experts to help train and evaluate AI models. The work focuses on creating realistic engineering problems, writing reference answers and grading rubrics, and comparing AI-generated responses for technical correctness. Your professional judgment will help set the standard AI systems are measured against.
What You'll Do
- Design realistic mechanical engineering problems with complete reference answers.
- Write grading rubrics that distinguish professional engineering judgment from simple textbook recall.
- Compare AI-generated calculations, designs, and specifications, then explain which response is stronger and why.
- Review problems and answers across areas such as statics and dynamics, thermal and fluid systems, stress analysis, manufacturing processes, and reliability.
- Check answers against relevant standards and codes where applicable.
- Document reasoning errors in model outputs and suggest improved responses.
- Participate in calibration and review sessions and apply feedback to maintain consistent quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, plus either a Master's or PhD, or 4+ years of professional experience.
- Solid design or analysis experience in your discipline.
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
- Working knowledge of engineering analysis tools such as CAD, FEA, or CFD.
- Excellent written English.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and stay reliable and detail-oriented in a remote setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional engineer (PE) or chartered engineer (CEng) status.
- Experience writing rubrics, design documentation, or training material.
- Familiarity with ASME or ISO standards.
- Experience with SolidWorks, ANSYS, or similar tools.
