Fluent Albanian Data Annotation Specialist (PII Tagging)

Overview

iMerit Scholars is looking for fluent Albanian speakers for a remote freelance project focused on building privacy-safe training data for AI systems. The work centers on identifying personally identifiable information (PII) in Albanian text, audio recordings, transcripts, and images, with flexible hours that can fit around other commitments.

What You'll Do

• Read Albanian text and tag PII such as names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, ID and account numbers, dates of birth, and similar details according to project guidelines.
• Listen to Albanian audio recordings and mark the segments where PII is spoken, using accurate timestamps.
• Review Albanian transcript snippets and tag PII in the text, cross-checking against the audio when needed.
• Draw precise bounding boxes around specified objects or regions in images, such as visible text, documents, faces, or other PII, and apply the correct labels.
• Apply categories consistently and handle ambiguous or edge cases according to the guidelines.
• Flag unclear audio, poor-quality images, or content that falls outside the project instructions.

Requirements

• Fluency in Albanian, including strong reading and listening comprehension for natural, informal, and fast-paced speech.
• Strong English reading and writing skills at B2 level or above, since instructions and guidelines are provided in English.
• Comfort working with annotation tools for text, audio, and images.
• Good judgment around personal or sensitive information and respect for data confidentiality.
• A reliable computer, good-quality headphones, and a stable internet connection.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with regional variation in Albanian-speaking communities, including Gheg and Tosk dialects and usage in Albania, Kosovo, and North Macedonia.
• Previous experience with data annotation, PII or data redaction, transcription, or bounding-box labeling.
• Background in transcription, translation, proofreading, data entry, or content moderation.
• Interest in helping build safer, privacy-respecting AI for Albanian speakers.
