About this opportunity

Overview

Latitude AI is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to work on simulation infrastructure for its Virtual Test Ecosystem. The team builds tooling for virtual simulation and resimulation so autonomy software can be tested at scale before it reaches the vehicle. This is a full-time role based in Pittsburgh, PA, Palo Alto, CA, or Detroit, MI.

What You'll Do

  • Build and extend parser code that reads simulation scenario definitions and passes them through to the backend simulation engine.
  • Implement scenario logic such as actor placement, interactions between actors and the autonomous vehicle, and other behaviors needed for execution.
  • Work with autonomy developers and scenario creation teams to capture new requirements and express them cleanly in scenario definitions.
  • Identify pain points in scenario authoring, maintenance, and error handling, then design and implement improvements.
  • Create mechanisms that let key scenario parameters represent ranges of values and support efficient sampling.
  • Support additional backend simulation infrastructure as needed, including message flow, vehicle log handling, and map interactions.
  • Help enable large-scale cloud execution of scenarios used to evaluate safety and comfort.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field plus 4+ years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree plus 2+ years of relevant experience; or a PhD.
  • Strong expertise in modern C++ (C++17).
  • At least 3 years of experience developing complex parsing software.
  • Ability to write efficient, well-tested, well-documented code that follows the team's style guide.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with internal and external partners.

Nice to Have

  • Python experience for day-to-day automation work.
  • Familiarity with entity component systems.
  • Experience with event-driven architecture.
