About this opportunity

Overview

micro1 is seeking a Senior Mobile Software Engineer for a contractor role of about 15 hours per week. The work is remote and focused on helping train next-generation AI systems by creating high-quality mobile software engineering tasks and reference solutions. This posting includes 100 openings.

The role centers on building reinforcement learning environments that test an AI model’s ability to solve realistic mobile engineering problems. You will design reproducible challenges, define deterministic verification, and provide golden reference implementations that can be used to evaluate model performance on code fixing, feature creation, refactoring, and optimization tasks.

What You'll Do

  • Create realistic and difficult mobile coding tasks for frontier AI models using repositories you know well.
  • Design problems that reflect practical mobile engineering work, such as debugging subtle issues, building non-trivial features, managing app state and lifecycle behavior, and improving performance.
  • Develop tasks across mobile platforms, including cross-platform apps with TypeScript, JavaScript, or Dart; iOS apps with Swift; and Android apps with Kotlin.
  • Define each task clearly, build a reproducible environment, and write deterministic verifiers that correctly accept valid solutions while rejecting incorrect, incomplete, or hard-coded ones.
  • Produce a reference solution for every task you create.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience in at least one mobile development track: React Native or Flutter for cross-platform work, SwiftUI or UIKit for iOS, or Jetpack Compose or the Android View system for Android.
  • Deep understanding of mobile application architecture, state management, asynchronous programming, and application lifecycle behavior.
  • Proven ability to debug complex mobile apps, resolve bugs, and deliver meaningful performance improvements.

Compensation

Compensation is output-based and paid per task that meets project specifications. The time required may vary based on experience and workflow. Minimum weekly submission requirements apply and are shared during onboarding.

Start Timeline

Selected experts are expected to begin their first tasks within 24 to 48 hours after onboarding, and roles are typically filled within 48 hours.
