Job Description
Turing is hiring music professionals with formal music education and hands-on industry experience for a short-term AI audio project.
You’ll listen to audio clips and identify the instruments being played, helping create accurate data for the evaluation and improvement of AI-generated audio systems.
The project runs across a 2-day window, with flexible working hours and the possibility of additional work for strong performers.
What You’ll Do
- Listen carefully to short audio clips.
- Identify broad instrument families such as Strings, Brass, Woodwind, Percussion, and Keyboard.
- Identify the specific instrument heard in each recording.
- Use provided audio references to support your decisions.
- Follow detailed annotation guidelines.
- Maintain consistent and accurate evaluations across repetitive listening tasks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Music or a related field.
- 3+ years of relevant professional experience in music performance, music production, audio engineering, or similar work.
- Strong ability to recognize musical instruments by sound.
- A trained ear and strong analytical listening skills.
- Strong English communication skills.
- Comfortable performing focused and repetitive audio evaluation tasks.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Preferred Experience
Experience in any of the following is an advantage:
- Music transcription
- Remixing
- Music Information Retrieval (MIR)
- Audio or music annotation
- AI training or data annotation
Assessment
Applicants must complete an approximately 15-minute qualifying assessment before onboarding.
Project & Compensation Details
This is a fully remote, 2-day project with flexible hours. Contributors can earn approximately $150–$160 with a full push across both project days, with payment made in USD.
Strong performers may be considered for an extension or additional project work.
