CAD Data Generation & Validation Specialist (FreeCAD)

Overview

Rex is looking for CAD specialists to create and validate parametric CAD models for AI training datasets. The role involves building a library of mechanical parts and assemblies in FreeCAD and performing quality checks to ensure the data meets engineering standards.

What You'll Do

• Build, edit, and validate accurate parametric CAD models in FreeCAD with strong geometric precision and sound engineering practice.
• Create a diverse library of mechanical parts, assemblies, and features for use in datasets.
• Apply GD&T so models align with real-world design and manufacturing standards.
• Review CAD data for quality, identify inconsistencies, and maintain engineering documentation.
• Script repetitive modelling tasks where automation is helpful.
• Respond to feedback and revision requests in a timely manner.
• Follow project guidelines, participate in calibration and review sessions, and incorporate feedback to maintain consistent quality.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in mechanical design, CAD modelling, manufacturing, or industrial engineering.
• Strong parametric modelling experience in FreeCAD or equivalent software.
• Experience with CAD validation and applying GD&T in manufacturing scenarios.
• Clear written English.
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Python scripting for CAD automation.
• Experience with FreeCAD workbenches and assemblies.
• Experience contributing to open-source CAD projects.

• Rex may verify identity, credentials, ownership, and licensing; may reject or remove submissions; and may report unlawful submissions to relevant authorities.
• Engagement and payment are subject to successful verification and applicable sanctions, export-control, tax, and employment laws.
• The contractor agreement will define ownership and licence terms for delivered work, to be confirmed by Rex Legal.
